Tenant Setup

Administrator

This guide covers the initial configuration of a new DataCentral Tenant. A Tenant is your isolated workspace within the DataCentral instance, containing your users, roles, reports, and settings.

1. Initial Access​

When a new Tenant is provisioned by the Host Administrator, you will receive a welcome email containing your Tenant URL and the information needed for your selected sign-in method.

  1. Navigate to your Tenant URL.
  2. Sign in with the Tenant Administrator's email address using the method selected during provisioning: User Pass, One-time Password (OTP), or Microsoft Entra ID.
  3. If you use User Pass, follow any prompt to change the initial password. For OTP, enter the time-limited code sent to the administrator's email address.

The legacy username admin still works for existing tenants in DataCentral 3.0.0, but use the Tenant Administrator's email address going forward.

2. Next Steps​

After completing the basic configuration, you should proceed to set up authentication and connect your data sources:

  1. Configure Authentication: Decide how your users will log in (Entra ID, User Pass, Mobile ID, OTP).
  2. Connect to Power BI: Set up a Service Principal to allow DataCentral to access your reports.
  3. Set up Branding: Customize the look and feel of your Tenant to match your corporate identity.
  4. Review the Admin Report: Verify access to the built-in activity and adoption overview. It is available to the static Admin role by default for new tenants created in DataCentral 3.0.0 or later.
