Navigating Your Tenant

End User

Once you have successfully logged in to DataCentral, you will be presented with your personalized dashboard. This portal is specifically tailored to you, displaying only the reports and data that you have been granted permission to access.

This guide explains the main areas of the DataCentral interface and how to find what you need.

1. The Main Dashboard

The dashboard is your starting point. It provides a clean, organized view of all the analytics available to you.

Header Navigation

At the top of the screen, you will find the main navigation bar. This area typically includes:

  • Your Organization's Logo: Clicking this logo will always return you to the main dashboard.
  • Global Search: A search bar that allows you to quickly find specific reports or dashboards by name.
  • User Profile: Located in the top right corner. Clicking your profile icon allows you to access your account settings, change your password (if applicable), or log out.

Report Categories (Workspaces)

Below the header, your reports are organized into logical groups, often corresponding to Power BI Workspaces or business departments (e.g., "Sales", "Finance", "Inventory").

  • Clicking on a category name will filter the dashboard to show only the reports within that specific group.
  • If you only have access to a few reports, they may be displayed in a single, unified list without categories.

2. The Report Cards

Each available report is represented by a "card" on your dashboard.

  • Report Title: The name of the report.
  • Description: A brief summary of what data the report contains (if provided by your administrator).
  • Thumbnail: A small preview image of the report.
  • Action Buttons: Hovering over or clicking a card will reveal options, the primary one being "View" or "Open" to launch the full report.

3. Favorites and Recent

To help you quickly access your most important data, DataCentral includes quick-access sections:

  • Favorites: You can mark frequently used reports as favorites (usually by clicking a star icon on the report card). These will appear in a dedicated "Favorites" section at the top of your dashboard for immediate access.
  • Recently Viewed: A section that automatically tracks and displays the last few reports you have opened, making it easy to pick up where you left off.

4. Mobile Experience

DataCentral is fully responsive. If you access the portal from a smartphone or tablet, the navigation and report cards will automatically adjust to fit your screen.

  • The main navigation menu may collapse into a "hamburger" menu (three horizontal lines) in the top corner.
  • Reports will scale to ensure that the data remains readable, though complex Power BI dashboards are often best viewed in landscape mode on mobile devices.
