Frequently Asked Questions

End User

Here are answers to some of the most common questions from DataCentral users.

1. Why can't I see any reports on my dashboard?

If you log in and your dashboard is empty, it usually means one of two things:

  1. Permissions: Your administrator has not yet assigned you to any reports or Organizational Units (OUs).
  2. Row-Level Security (RLS): You have access to a report, but the data security rules (RLS) determine that there is currently no data applicable to your profile.

Solution: Contact your organization's DataCentral Administrator to request access or verify your permissions.

2. Why does my report look different from my colleague's?

This is a feature, not a bug. DataCentral uses Row-Level Security (RLS) to ensure that every user only sees the data they are explicitly authorized to view.

For example, if you are the Regional Manager for Europe and your colleague is the Regional Manager for Asia, you will both open the exact same "Global Sales" report, but you will only see European data, and they will only see Asian data.

3. How do I reset my password?

This depends on how you log in:

  • Sign in with Microsoft (Entra ID): You must reset your password through your organization's standard Microsoft 365 password reset process (usually at passwordreset.microsoftonline.com or by contacting your IT department). DataCentral does not store or manage your Microsoft password.
  • Username and Password (User Pass): Click the "Forgot Password" link on the DataCentral login screen. Enter your email address, and instructions will be sent to you.

4. Why is the "Export Data" button missing?

Administrators have fine-grained control over what users can do within reports. If the option to export data to Excel or CSV is missing, it is because your organization has disabled this feature for security or compliance reasons to prevent data from leaving the secure portal.

5. Can I view DataCentral on my phone?

Yes. The DataCentral portal is fully responsive and works on mobile browsers (Safari, Chrome, etc.). However, complex Power BI reports with large tables or many charts are often best viewed on a larger screen or in landscape mode on a tablet.

6. Who do I contact for support?

For questions about data accuracy, report design, or requesting access to new reports, you should contact your organization's internal DataCentral Administrator or BI team.

If you are experiencing technical issues with the platform itself (e.g., the website is down or returning error codes), your administrator will escalate the issue to the DataCentral support team.
